Problems American Indians faced.
One of the problems American Indians faced was the fact that they were very discriminated against. Everyone view them as poor, drunk, living on reservations, fighting over land, and selling fireworks. In schools, the history books taught that the people living here before the Europeans showed up were wild, unintelligent savages. They said there's no way that the American Indians could've built large civilizations that they did, and that the people living there must have killed off a civilization living there before, and then they just took their land. Not only was what was taught in schools very racist, but they didn't teach nearly enough of the American Indian history. Hundreds of years ago, the Europeans came over, took the Indians land, and then forced these American Natives to live on reservations and convert their religion and language, which some people like to refer to as a social genocide. Up until the AIM, nothing had been done about the taken land, and the wanted it back.
